President's Message, December, 2007:
Happy holidays! A reminder that DCAC's annual holiday party will take place tomorrow night, Thursday, December 6, at 7 p.m. The location will be Murray Hall at St. Therese Parish. Please join us for some holiday cheer and some very quick updates regarding issues affecting the Del Cerro community.
But first, I wanted to take a moment to give you all a final report on Del Cerro's wildfire assistance project. A heartfelt THANK YOU goes to all of you Del Cerro residents who donated your time, items and funds to the organization binder project. Your efforts were truly inspirational -- our volunteers were able to put together a total of 98 organization binders. On Saturday, November 3, these binders were delivered and gratefully received by Ramona's Mountain View Church -- which serves as a distribution point for the area's local wildfire victims. Click here to read the story about the project and see photos of volunteers putting the binders together. Kudos to Del Cerro resident Rosemary Ghosn, the architect of and driving spirit behind this project!

Next, as many of you well know by now, SDSU's 2007 Masterplan and Environmental Impact Report ("EIR") were approved by the California State University's ("CSU's") Board of Trustees on November 14th. Jay Wilson will join us tomorrow evening to discuss the board meeting as well as the city's intentions with regard to filing a CEQA suit against CSU for its failure to comply with environmental laws in approving the EIR.
Finally, starting in 2008, DCAC's general meetings will be held on a quarterly basis, and intermittently on an "as needed" basis. We will hold general meetings in January, April, July and October, with our holiday party to be held as usual in December. Elections will still be held, per our bylaws, in January. If you are interested in running for any position in 2008, or know of someone who might be interested, please contact Mark Rawlins here.
It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as DCAC's president for 2007. Best wishes for a safe, happy and healthy holiday season and a peaceful New Year.
Sincerely,
Anne Brunkow President Del Cerro Action Council
